HIV is a virus that attacks the body immune system,destroys a type of white blood cells which acts as a natural defence against various illnesses in our body's.The virus then makes copies of itself in the T-helper cells known as CD4. A person's immune system gradually goes down wth the multiplication of the CD4 cells in the body bringing to more infections and diseases. If HIV is left untreated,it may take up to 10-15 years for the immune system to be so serverely damaged, unable to defend itself against infections,however this varys with ones age,health and status background. The ealier HIV is diagonized,the sooner the treatment can start using antiretroviral leading to better longterm health. HIV is found in semen,blood,vaginal fluids and even breast milk .The use of condoms helps in prevention of HIV and other STDs.
